Manchester International Festival

Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation supports engagement by new audiences at the Manchester International Festival as part of its cultural understanding theme.

Manchester International Festival commissioned Victoria Wood, one of the UK's best-loved writers and performers, to create a new theatre piece for 2011, That Day We Sang, inspired by one of Manchester's most iconic music events and featuring a new Manchester Children's Choir.

The festival also presented Sacred Sites, bringing together five of the foremost international performers of sacred song and recital for a series of extraordinary events in local Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish and Sikh sites of worship across the city.
