The UK Climate Change and Migration Coalition (UKCCMC) will be organising a high level roundtable on effective climate change and migration communications entitled 'We're not Refugees?' from 1 to 4pm on Friday, 18 November as part of their new four part event series entitled 'Should we be planning for human movement?'
There is an urgent need to identify constructive language to describe and publicise the displacement of vulnerable peoples linked to climate change. The language that is currently used has formed in an ad hoc manner and without any analysis or testing. This roundtable is intended to address this imbalance and to enable organisations to shape the language that best meets their needs. Facilitated by experts the roundtable will form the basis of a short focused research project which will culminate in concrete proposals for effective language.
This is a CLOSED session however if you work in relevant sectors and would like to participate please email: hannah@coinet.org.uk
