OUR STRATEGIC AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To help improve people's perception of each other by providing opportunities for interaction through culture and between cultures.
- Promotion of Portuguese Visual Art - to support strategic arts initiatives which promote new international arts practice, particularly work from Portugal that has had insufficient exposure in the UK.
- Literature in Translation - to undertake initiatives to promote multilingualism in the UK, and international literature in translation for adults and children, in collaboration with other literary agencies.
To assist the most disadvantaged in society to fulfil their potential by building connections and developing opportunities.
- Ageing and Social Cohesion - to support and develop more meaningful connections for older people and across generations.
- Multiple Needs - to support coordinated, collaborative services for adults facing multiple needs and exclusions. People facing multiple needs and exclusions are defined as experiencing a combination of issues that impact adversely on their lives and are often poorly connected to services, leading to a chaotic lifestyle - specifically they may face issues around homelessness; substance misuse; mental ill health and a history of offending or institutionalisation; in addition to other complicating factors.
To help in the development of a society which benefits from a more sustainable relationship with the natural world and understands the value of its resources.
- Creative Engagement in the Natural World - to help develop strategies that encourage creative engagement with the natural world in order to promote more sustainable ways of living.
- Growing the Green Economy - to help identify and promote effective strategies to green the economy.
GUIDELINES
- Not-for-profit organisations (not individuals) can apply for R&D funding to scope a new idea which enables them to work together with other organisations or experts outside their usual practice, or to enable them to undertake active research into areas they would not normally have the time or money to explore.
- If projects are specifically local they must be of a kind that have not been implemented elsewhere and which can set a precedent for emulation in other places, or serve as a national pilot.
- Although the host applicant and prime beneficiaries should be resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland, we are also interested in proposals that may involve European partners or that emulate good practice in other countries.
- Although we may occasionally give further funding for projects that are developed as a result of an R&D grant, we stress that we do not guarantee continued support.
- The funds available are modest in scale and competition is likely to be strong.
- As a guide, it is expected that grants will average between £10,000 and £25,000.
